 Earth mined diamonds are created by nature, as a result of intense heat and pressure, formed over the course of billions of years. Fun fact: only ONE "1 carat" average color/clarity diamond is mined out of ONE MILLION! That alone makes for a pretty rare stone. 

Lab grown diamonds are created by man by replicating the intense heat and pressure conditions that occur in nature. These diamonds come in very high color and clarity grades and are less expensive than earth mined diamonds. They are the exact same chemical make up as an earth mined diamond and are diamonds by definition.
